Orthodontist in Revere MA – Dr. Rachel

Orthodontist

At Boschetti Dental, Revere MA, we offer a full range of orthodontic services aimed to align and straighten teeth and coordinate occlusions (bites). This includes both traditional braces as well as clear Invisalign® aligners. Orthodontics traditionally is associated with children and teens, but what we strive to educate our patients on is that adults deserve straight teeth and healthy bites too! Properly aligned teeth and harmonious bites benefit the overall oral health of patients of all ages, in addition to giving them beautiful smiles they can be proud of! Each patient will receive a customized treatment plan based on their specific needs. Dr. Rachel will discuss the options and alternatives for your care to come up with the best orthodontic plan for you! Visit our Orthodontist in Revere MA, Dr. Rachel Boschetti.

INTRAORAL SCANNERS
For both your general dental needs and your orthodontic treatment, we use intra-oral scanners instead of traditional impressions in most cases, largely eliminating the need for the unpleasant putty-type impressions many patients are accustomed to. This lends to an overall more pleasant (and more accurate!) experience for both patient and clinician.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends an initial orthodontic consultation by age 7. By this age, children have a mix of baby and adult teeth and are in the midst of their dental and facial growth and development. By examining children around this age and taking certain x-rays, we are able to identify certain dental and skeletal problems that may warrant early treatment to guide the growth and development in the correct direction. However, if no signifiant discrepancies exist, we continue to monitor your child until they are ready for braces!

Most children will be ready for orthodontic treatment between the ages of 11-14. By this age, most or all of the adult teeth have erupted into the mouth. At this time, we are then able to straighten and align the teeth and correct the bite if needed. As adolescents are still actively growing, it is prudent to start treatment at the appropriate time to maximize bite correction. Dr. Rachel will be able to identify the correct time to start orthodontic treatment on your child based on their individual growth pattern and rate. In addition to traditional braces that most adolescents opt for, in some cases your child may also be a candidate for Invisalign Teen ® treatment.

ADULTS
There are equally as many reasons why adults can benefit from orthodontic treatment as children and teens. In addition to the obvious reason of creating a more beautiful smile, straight teeth can allow for better access for brushing and flossing and helping to place teeth centered in the bone for optimal bone and gum support. These can help to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease that can jeopardize your oral health. In addition, properly aligned teeth can prevent abnormal tooth wear and potential fracture as a result of traumatic bites. As adults have completed their growth and often have a mixture of crowns, implants, and sometimes missing teeth, there are different ways to approach tooth alignment and bite correction. Our general dentists, other specialists, and Dr. Rachel will work together to deliver a multidisciplinary approach to your care and assure that you receive the best overall plan for your dental needs.

INVISALIGN® vs. BRACES
Both Invisalign ® clear aligners and braces can straighten the teeth and correct the bite. There are different advantages to both types of treatment that can be discussed with you to determine the best option for your treatment. To name a few, Invisalign is a more esthetic option to traditional braces that are both a comfortable and convenient way to straighten your teeth. They are removed to eat, brush, and floss and can be seamlessly integrated into your normal daily routine! Conversely, traditional braces are more suitable for certain cases and patients, and the options can be discussed at length to determine which treatment modality is best for you!
